글로벌 걸그룹 BLACKSWAN(블랙스완)의 두번째 싱글앨범 ‘That Karma‘가 2023년 5월 19일 오후 6시 전 세계에 동시 발매된다.
지난 싱글앨범 ‘Close to Me‘를 통해 전 세계 K-POP 팬들에게 유일무이한 글로벌 그룹의 존재감을 각인 시켜줬던 블랙스완이 인고 끝에 컴백한다.
블랙스완은 한국어로 ‘흑조’를 뜻하며 가요계에 만연한 백조(아이돌)들 사이에서 독보적이고 차별화된 매력을 보여주는 유일무이한 세계적인 아이돌이 되겠다는 의미를 가진 이름이다.
현 케이팝 씬에서 한국인 멤버 없이 외국인 멤버로만 이루어진 유일한 글로벌 걸그룹으로 팀의 리더이자 벨기에 출신 파투(Fatou), 브라질, 독일 출신의 가비(Gabi), 미국에서 온 앤비(NVee) 그리고 인도 출신의 막내 스리야(Sriya)로 구성되어 있다.
특히 가비, 스리야, 앤비는 DR의 자체 글로벌 오디션 프로젝트 Cygnus Project를 통해 발탁되어 케이팝 트레이닝을 받은 멤버들로 리더 파투를 주축으로 이번 앨범을 통해 그들이 추구하는 방향성과 한국인이 포함 되어있지 않은 외국인으로만 이루어진 K-POP 그룹에 대한 수많은 물음표에 대한 화두를 던져보려 한다.
블랙스완은 신인 걸그룹으로서는 이례적으로 이미 벨기에에서 두 차례 공연을 하였으며, 특히 글로벌 이벤트인 2023 Odisha Hockey World Cup 오프닝 세레모니에 초청되어 약 60,000명의 관객 앞에서 축하 공연을 하는 등 범상치 않은 이력을 자랑한다.

카르마를 사전적인 의미는 ‘업보‘다. 글로벌 그룹으로서 거듭나기 위해 셀 수 없이 많은 고난과 역경을 이겨내고 새로운 팀으로 거듭난 블랙스완이 꿈을 포기하지 않고 계속 앞으로 나아갈 것이라는 의지를 보여주고 있는
이번 앨범의 타이틀곡 ‘Karma‘는 Itzy, Red Velvet, 청하, Twice 외 국내외 유명 아티스트들과 협업했던 프로듀서 Alina Smith, Gisselle Acevedo, Shark, A Wright, JEDI가 의기투합하여 프로듀싱에 참여하였고,
대한민국 굴지의 뮤직그룹 153/Joombas출신 Tessie, 그리고 나정아가 작사에 참여하였다.
‘Karma‘는 위험하지만 멈출 수 없는 끌림을 노래하고 있으며, 솔직하게 이 순간에 원하는 걸 가져보라는 가사가 특징적이다.
또한 이 곡의 Choreography는 이준기, KARD, 모모랜드, 김소희, 에이프릴 등의 안무를 작업했던 안무팀 Lay back의 박준우 안무가가 참여하여 블랙스완만이 표현할 수 있는 강력한 퍼포먼스와 유니크한 매력을 더욱 돋보이게 해준다.

‘Cat & Mouse’는 마치 고양이와 쥐의 관계처럼 본능적으로 끌리게 되는 이성 간의 감정과 반응을 노래하며, 매력적이고 당당한 블랙스완의 자신감이 표현되는 곡으로 미니멀리스트 베이스 중심의 트랙이다.
이 곡이 가지고 있는 독특한 멜로디는 블랙스완의 예술적인 면을 보여주지만, 랩 부분은 멤버들이 얼마나 다재다능한 아티스트인지 한번 더 각인 시켜준다.
이 곡은 Maroon 5, Kendrick Lamar, Demi lovato, Chloe Bailey등 탑 아티스트들의 수많은 히트곡들을 만들었던 Keith Askey, Jeff Shum, Rosina "Soaky" Russell, John Ho, A Wright등이 프로듀싱에 참여했으며
153/Joombas 출신의 S8S가 작사에 참여하였다. 이 곡의 안무 또한 Lay back 박준우 안무가가 참여하여 타이틀곡 ‘Karma‘의 강력한 퍼포먼스와는 상반된 부드럽고 감미로운 퍼포먼스를 선보여 블랙스완의 또 다른 매력을 보여준다.

Global girl group ‘BLACKSWAN‘s 2nd single album ‘That Karma‘ is set to be released on 19th of May 2023 at 6pm(KST) universally.
BLACKSWAN, who imprinted the unique presence of a global group to K-Pop fans around the world through their last single album ‘Close to Me‘ will make a comeback after much perseverance.
The name of the group means that it will become the only globally recognized idol who shows unique and differentiated charm among swans(ordinary K-pop idols) prevalent in the global music industry.
BLACKSWAN is the only K-pop girl group consisting of only foreigners without Korean members in current K-pop scene. And it consists of Fatou from Belgium, Gabi from Brazil & Germany, NVee from the U.S. and Sriya, the youngest from India.
Especially, Gabi, Sriya, and NVee were selected through DR‘s own global audition project, Cygnus Project, and received K-pop training ever since they join the company.
Through this album, Their goal is to raise the topic of the direction they are pursuing and proving themselves to the numerous question marks about K-pop groups consisted of only foreigners who do not include Koreans.
BLACKSWAN has already performed twice in front of thousands of people in Belgium and has been invited to the 2023 Odisha Hockey World Cup Opening Ceremony performing in front of about 60,000 audiences.

The album‘s title track ‘Karma‘ which shows BLACKSWAN‘s determination to continue to move forward without giving up their dreams after overcoming countless hardships to become a global group,
was written and produced by producer Alina Smith, Gisselle Acevedo, Shark, A Wright and JEDI who have produced various songs for ITZY, Red Velvet, Chung Ha, Twice etc. The Korean lyrics have been written
by Tessie(153/Joombas) and 나정아(153/Joombas). ‘Karma‘ is a song of dangerous but unstoppable attraction, and the lyrics are characterized by honestly having what you want at this moment.
In addition, choreographer 박준우 of the team Lay back, who worked on choreography such as 이준기, KARD, Momoland, 김소희, and April, participated in the song‘s Coreography, further highlighting the powerful performance and unique charm that only BLACKSWAN can express.

-Cat & Mouse

Double title track, Cat & Mouse is a minimalist bass driven track about love and fun that‘s described by cat and mouse. The unique melodies display BLACKSWAN‘s artistic side but also the rap section shows how multi-talented artists the members are.
The song was written by Keith Askey, Jeff Shum, Rosina "Soaky" Russell, John Ho, and A Wright, who made numerous hits by top-level artists such as Maroon 5, Kendrick Lamar, Demi lovato and Chloe Bailey, and
the lyrics was written by S8S from 153/Joombas. The choreography of the song also created by 박준우 of Lay back, who presents a soft and sweet performance contrary to the powerful performance of the title song "Karma," showing another charm of BLACKSWAN.
This album is dedicated to Lumina who always support and cheer for the members no matter what, and look forward to the future moves of the members who dream of becoming global number one.
